Dear Portkey community members,
Portkey is thrilled to introduce an exciting new feature in our latest update: chat. This feature empowers users to talk with their contacts, establish connections with new users, and facilitate other activities via communication. Currently, users can send text messages, photos, and bookmarks to others. In the upcoming version, features like payment within chats can be expected.
If your curiosity has been piqued, delve into the following introduction to learn how you can connect and engage with others via Portkey.
Start a Chat
If you have yet chatted with anyone via Portkey and want to initiate a communication now, please head to the “Chats” page first. Portkey App users can conveniently access it on the bottom navigation bar while extension users can click on the chat icon located directly on the home page.
Then you can click the “+” button situated at the top right corner of the interface and then select “New Chat.” You will be presented with a list of all chattable contacts you already have. This allows you to seamlessly start a conversation with the chosen contact.
You can also start a chat on the “Contacts” page via “My” — “Contacts.” The contacts are categorized in the latest version based on their chattability. The “All” tab displays all contacts regardless of their chattability while contact with a little blue chat icon on the right are ones you can have private chat with. These chattable contacts are also organized in a separate tab labeled “Chats,” making it efficient for you to view and manage these interactions.
Once you have conversations, all the records will be presented chronologically on the “Chats” page. To find a specific contact or conversation, you can input relevant information such as the contact’s name, ID, or remarks into the search box to locate the records within your chat history.
Build Connections
Portkey enables users to establish connections with other users through searching their wallet addresses or Portkey IDs. By clicking the “Find More” button on “Chats,” you will be taken to a page where you can enter the target Portkey IDs or CA wallet addresses.
To view your own addresses and Portkey ID, simply go to “My” — “Wallet” — “My DID” and here you will see all the IDs and wallet addresses linked to your account, including your MainChain address and SideChain addresses.
In essence, the introduction of the instant messaging feature in the latest Portkey offers an engaging Web3 journey, ensuring a more interconnected experience to users. This enhancement also contributes to the network effect that enhances the expansion of the Portkey ecosystem and fuels our development.
Users without Portkey can download the latest version via the links below: iOS
Users with the installed Portkey app can choose to update via the pop-up window upon opening the app.
Users with the installed Portkey extension can wait a while for the automatic update.
